What you can do
Real entries, not guesses
The assistant reads the entry from your dictionary instead of paraphrasing from memory. It's the same entry you see in the panel.

It can read your lookup history, your saved words and your review status, so it can help you drill exactly what you've been reading.

How to start
- Download and open AALookup
macOS or Windows, under 20 MB, no account needed.
- Let it see your screen
On a Mac, allow Accessibility so it can read the word under your pointer, and Screen Recording for text in games and images. Windows asks for nothing.
- Point at a word
Three-finger tap on a Mac, or press your shortcut on Windows. The meaning appears next to the word.
Common questions
Does anything leave my computer?
No. Agent access listens only on this computer, with a token AALookup generates. Turn it off and nothing is exposed.
Which assistants work?
Any MCP-compatible client. One-click setup covers Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex and ChatGPT Desktop, and WorkBuddy. Others take the configuration AALookup shows you.
Is it on by default?
No. It's off until you enable it in Settings, and it's only available in the desktop app.
Is it free?
Yes. Agent access is part of the free app.
