Make AALookup fit your reading habits
Tune triggers, recognition, pronunciation, language and data preferences.
Apply settings deliberately
Desktop Settings uses a draft: review your changes and Save to apply them. Account and allowance actions have their own immediate flow. Mobile settings use their own immediate-save behavior. If a trigger still behaves as before, first confirm the desktop draft was saved.
English and Simplified Chinese are available. The app follows your system language by default, or you can choose a language in Settings. Dictionary content keeps the language supplied by its publisher.
Choose a comfortable trigger
- Configure a keyboard shortcut or supported mouse gesture. Modifier-key double or triple presses are available where offered; avoid combinations that conflict with frequent actions in your source app.
- A three-finger trackpad tap is a Mac capability, not a promise for every touch device.
- Mouse side buttons can still trigger Back or Forward in the source app. Windows offers interception for supported combinations; a double-click can still pass its first click through.
- Screen freeze has its own shortcut shown in the translation workspace. It is separate from your ordinary word-lookup shortcut.
Match recognition to your content
Check permissions and OCR readiness when the source is an image or scanned document. On Mac, recognition can use automatic language choices or a selected language; Windows exposes its available recognition engines and language setup.
Change one option at a time and test the same source word. A larger source font or simpler capture region can help more than repeatedly retrying a tiny or stylized word.
Pronunciation, startup and data preferences
Choose pronunciation preferences such as voice and playback behavior from the controls available on your platform. Dictionary-provided audio may require its companion resources. Speech input in learning also depends on the selected recognition provider and platform support.
Review startup behavior, automatic word saving, analytics and error-reporting preferences. These choices are distinct from deliberately submitting written feedback or sending a translation. Read each setting’s data description before enabling it.
