Every AALookup release, newest first.

1.1.0

Online dictionaries in learning, smoother translation, and a redesigned website.

Added

  • Use supported online dictionaries in Study and Review, including the public Learner’s English dictionary in browser learning.
  • Look up online dictionaries in Quick Search and switch dictionaries with the menu or arrow and Page Up/Down keys.
  • Read searchable English and Chinese guides for setup, lookup, translation, vocabulary, and learning.

Improved

  • Hide answer words in online dictionary entries with clearer masks, then reveal the complete entry with the answer.
  • Switch between original text, overlaid translation, and side-by-side text while keeping the target language and translation progress clear.
  • Check screen translations for missing or repeated passages and attempt to fill gaps while preserving the valid text already received.
  • macOS Install and open the macOS app directly from its installation prompt, with clearer drag-to-install guidance in the disk image.
  • Explore redesigned pages with interactive reading and screenshot demos, and keep useful word cards open while browsing.
  • Search words and phrases through direct dictionary links, with compact result headers that leave more room for reading on phones.
  • Guide signed-out Plus visitors to sign in or register, and preserve keyboard focus when refreshing an account session.

Fixed

  • Keep Quick Search shortcuts from interrupting Chinese and other input-method candidate selection.
  • Render phonetic symbols and combining marks consistently in AALookup dictionary entries on the website and in the app.
  • Open dictionary entries reliably when their content becomes ready immediately.
  • Keep received translation paragraphs after an interruption or partial failure, and recover an interrupted result without submitting the same translation again.
  • macOS Show missing lookup permissions when the macOS website edition starts, while keeping unfinished setup ahead of the permission reminder.
  • Use Home and End to move to the beginning or end of a focused reading area.
  • Respect your chosen website language and keep download and primary buttons readable in light and dark themes.
