更新內容
AALookup 的所有版本,最新的在前。
More interface languages and smoother dictionary setup.
新增
- The app and website interfaces now support Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Korean, French, German, Vietnamese and Indonesian.
修復
- Fixed dictionary catalogs failing to load and downloads being blocked on some networks, including during first-time setup.
- Windows Fixed scrollbars staying visible in installed Windows builds after scrolling stops or the pointer moves away.
US and UK pronunciation with clearer voice settings.
新增
- AALookup Learner's English on desktop can now read the current headword aloud using the app's pronunciation, with separate US and UK accents.
- Windows Windows pronunciation recognizes more installed system voices. Add missing US or UK English voices in Pronunciation settings; downloads need internet access and administrator approval.
最佳化
- Windows When navigation is hidden on Windows, use the maximize button's window menu to restore or change the layout, keeping the titlebar compact.
- Click the compact pronunciation button to play or stop. Hover or hold it to choose an accent, without adding another titlebar button.
- The new desktop Settings → Pronunciation page groups language, voice, speed and automatic pronunciation, with changes saved immediately. Voice management stays out of the playback menu.
修復
- Desktop scrollbars fade again after scrolling or moving the pointer away, instead of staying visible just because the content has keyboard focus.
Flexible desktop layouts and smoother lookup and review.
新增
- Use the window menu to switch between full, icon and hidden navigation, manage window size, keep the window on top and pin the lookup toolbar.
最佳化
- Desktop toolbars fit their actions on one row when space allows, keep window controls clear and provide a transparent titlebar drag area without hover shadows.
- Study and Review prepare the next word with fewer repeated reads; switching between Dictionary and Questions immediately restarts the current Review word without recording a rating.
- Feedback replies use your submitted report, recent conversation and help guides to provide more relevant answers.
修復
- Dictionary jump labels now follow the combined local and online results, and Quick Search presents online entries alongside local entries more smoothly.
- Links in the public dictionary's Study and Review entries open in the external browser, including middle-click and links added after rendering.
- Desktop dictionary labels at the top of the reading area stay clickable above the transparent window-drag surface, while titlebar buttons keep priority.
- An expanded desktop navigation sidebar no longer prevents the lookup toolbar from hiding as you scroll; open menus and the toolbar pin setting still keep it visible.
Readable Android study cards and configurable screen shortcuts
最佳化
- On desktop, change or disable the freeze-screen shortcut in Settings. The screen translation toolbar shows your chosen shortcut.
- Chinese dictionary pages show complete entry explanations and grammar notes, including same-word comparison diagrams when available. Empty discussion panels stay hidden.
修復
- Learning and review dictionary cards keep meanings readable on Android phones that previously showed a black background with dark text. Narrow cards also use a layout that fits their width.
Send feedback with a tag and enter Community
最佳化
- Choose any feedback tag and send without writing details. The form has a clearer Send action, keeps your choices if sending fails, and offers Enter Community after success.
Discuss dictionary entries and follow feedback replies
新增
- Read feedback and replies in the main window. After sending feedback, eligible direct-download App users can post and reply anonymously in Community, with a dot for new replies.
- Open Discuss from an entry to compose a post about it in the App, or visit Community on the website. After typing @word, choose a headword or a specific dictionary entry.
- Choose translation and explanation languages independently in the lookup panel; both choices are saved for later lookups.
最佳化
- Read entry discussions beside the dictionary on desktop and below it on mobile. Community has clearer cards, Markdown content and icon voting.
- Lookup uses saved connection choices and refreshes them in the background.
Smoother dictionary study, optional copying and Review pronunciation
新增
- Replay Review pronunciation from a compact icon or Ctrl+P / Cmd+P, with automatic playback when revealing answers and finishing optional copying.
最佳化
- Web study and dictation wait for the dictionary before falling back to book material, and Review starts in Dictionary mode while preserving saved preferences.
- Mistyped answers clear and offer optional guided copying, while arrow-key ratings, continuation and retries remain available and keep the original answer result.
修復
- Compact dictionary previews keep their intended layout on public dictionary pages.
Filter familiar words before studying, with clearer dictionary prompts.
新增
- Filter familiar words in small book-order groups, using two columns on desktop and one list on phones; click to mark a word mastered and check its meaning, click again to keep it for study, and resume or start learning at any time.
- Choose whether desktop Review prefers dictionary entries or book questions; the preference applies to the next card without interrupting the current question.
最佳化
- Show AALookup dictionary meanings and examples in a compact layout during study, keep related content together, and use spare space for more details while preserving the full entry when it cannot fit.
- Improve search metadata and the wording of the Windows lookup demonstration on the website.
修復
- Hide word-family answers throughout dictionary recall prompts until the answer is revealed.
- Refresh cached website styles so returning visitors see the current button colors on the website and policy pages.
No more permission-page flash when opening AALookup on macOS.
修復

- Look up online dictionaries in Quick Search and switch dictionaries with the menu or arrow and Page Up/Down keys.

- Guide signed-out Plus visitors to sign in or register, and preserve keyboard focus when refreshing an account session.
修復
- Keep Quick Search shortcuts from interrupting Chinese and other input-method candidate selection.
- Render phonetic symbols and combining marks consistently in AALookup dictionary entries on the website and in the app.
- Open dictionary entries reliably when their content becomes ready immediately.
- Keep received translation paragraphs after an interruption or partial failure, and recover an interrupted result without submitting the same translation again.

- Respect your chosen website language and keep download and primary buttons readable in light and dark themes.
Smoother lookup, clearer dictionary reading, and fixes for images and iPad startup.

- Follow related words and phrases through one lookup history, preserving the selected dictionary and the exact linked entry. Links from the desktop panel open in the main window.
- Show clearer online dictionary connection, availability, and retry messages.
- Keep desktop lookup controls in one compact row and give reading more room as you scroll. Drag the window from empty areas around its controls.
修復

- Restore images in dictionaries whose resource links were previously interpreted incorrectly.
- Improve keyboard access to popovers and keep menus positioned correctly when the window is resized.

- On iPhone and iPad, subscribe to Plus, restore purchases, and manage an existing Apple subscription from account settings.
- macOS Look up selected text through the macOS Services menu.
最佳化
- Keep screen translations beside their original text, return to an ongoing task, and reuse your last target language.
- View translation token balances and membership benefits together, with clearer sign-in and account status messages.
- Read dictionary entries with more space on mobile: controls move aside while scrolling and return when you scroll back.
- Follow available related-word and phrase links in the learner dictionary, then return to your previous reading position.
- Set up Learner's English automatically when starting with an empty dictionary collection, without blocking entry if the download fails.
- Keep the installed Learner's English dictionary up to date automatically while preserving your dictionary choices.
- Windows Refresh frozen-screen controls on Windows, with clearer translation settings and editable recognized text.
- Keep pronunciation and other secondary lookup actions together in the More menu.
- Improve text selection, lookup history labels, and the vocabulary header on narrow screens.
- Use a clearer sign-in page with matching English and Chinese layouts on desktop and mobile.
修復
- Show installed dictionaries correctly in the catalog and preserve their installed state when the mobile app is updated.
- macOS Recognize a fresh three-finger tap even when other fingers are already resting on the trackpad.
- Reduce unrelated pointer lookup results and offer an alternative word when image recognition finds a different match.
- Hide American Heritage Dictionary pronunciation hints correctly until study answers are revealed.
- Keep phrase links within the correct dictionary entry when website search shows several dictionaries.
Improve network connectivity.
最佳化
- Improve network connectivity.
Use AALookup on mobile without signing in and keep learning when sync is paused.
最佳化
- On mobile, choose Start now during setup to look up words, save vocabulary and study without creating an account. You can add dictionaries and sign in later.
- Mobile setup buttons stay readable on narrow screens and with larger text. Updated account messages explain guest storage and paused sync.
變更
- An expired mobile session pauses sync while keeping local words, notes and progress available. Signing out no longer sends you back to the welcome page.
- AALookup published online dictionaries and spelling suggestions no longer require user sign-in. Existing installed editions remain usable after upgrading the app.
- Privacy information now explains the words, spelling prefixes and request details sent when you use online dictionaries, and how to disable a source.
More reliable three-finger lookup and screen recognition, with faster screen freezing.
新增
- macOS Choose a preferred screen recognition language during setup or in capture settings.
最佳化
- macOS Improve three-finger lookup responsiveness when apps are busy or fingers lift in quick succession.
- macOS Show the frozen screen as soon as it is captured, keep recognition status with the pointer-following hint, and allow selection while text is being read.
修復
- macOS Improve screen recognition for Chinese text and reject app-provided words whose location cannot be confirmed at the pointer.
- The lookup footer now shows the time to finish reading text, with panel appearance time listed separately in the tooltip.
This corrective release restores Android and iOS packaging for the lookup improvements introduced in 1.0.9.
修復
- Android and iOS packages now build successfully with the latest lookup progress handling.
Lookup failures now stay visible, slow captures explain what is happening, and macOS frozen-screen lookup is more reliable.
最佳化
- macOS Slow text capture now shows its current stage, finishes within a bounded wait, and explains when screen recognition could not contribute.
- The text-recognition engine now warms up when the desktop app opens, reducing delays on the first lookup.
- Paddle checkout now prefills the verified email from your AALookup account.
修復
- A failed lookup now stays open with a clear explanation instead of making the panel disappear.
- macOS Looking up selected text now recovers the surrounding sentence more reliably instead of treating the selection as the whole sentence.
- macOS Frozen-screen lookup no longer stalls behind slow recognition, repeats recognized text, or closes when the display configuration did not actually change.
- Localized landing, pricing, and billing pages now initialize correctly under the website's security policy.
On macOS the lookup panel now glides to your next word, and buying Plus is easier to finish.
最佳化
- On macOS, looking up a word somewhere else moves the panel smoothly to the new spot under a brief loading veil, instead of closing it and popping it open again.
- Monthly and yearly checkouts no longer block each other, and resuming an open purchase works reliably.
- An expired payment page can now be left behind so the purchase can start again, instead of looping back to the same dead link.
- The billing page shows each unfinished checkout with its own resume or restart action, not only the most recent one.
- After a payment is confirmed, a success dialog appears and takes you to your account page.
- When billing actions are tried too often, the page now says so plainly instead of showing a generic failure.
修復
- On macOS, three-finger-tap lookup recovers by itself if the tap detector stalls, instead of staying silent until the app is restarted.
Online dictionaries fit more reliably, with clearer settings and purchasing.
最佳化
- Mobile now supports online dictionaries and keeps the entry you opened when library data refreshes.
- Online dictionary panels choose a better size without covering the word you are reading.
- Desktop systems can open MDX dictionary files directly with AALookup.
- MDX file associations remain available after automatic app updates.
- The Windows lookup panel stays within the visible screen when display text is enlarged.
- Long dictionary names no longer make the desktop library sidebar scroll sideways.
- Pricing clearly compares Free and Plus, shows regional prices, and shortens the path to payment.
- Settings now has a dedicated About page for version, update, permission and support information.
A simpler start, smoother lookups, and pronunciation with your system voices
新增
- On desktop, lookup triggers now include mouse side buttons and pressing a modifier key three times. On Windows, supported mouse triggers can optionally be intercepted so the triggering click does not also reach the app beneath it.
- On desktop, select text inside a local dictionary result in Search to preview a matching entry from the same dictionary. When no entry matches, a small toolbar lets you search the selection or hear it pronounced while keeping your reading position.
- On desktop, the lookup panel can pronounce words automatically or on demand using installed system voices. Settings now saves automatic pronunciation, language and accent, voice, and speaking speed. Pronunciation text is not sent to an online service.
最佳化
- On desktop, Getting Started brings permissions, lookup triggers, text recognition, and dictionaries into one preparation checklist. Import your own dictionaries or download one there, then start using the app when setup is ready; practice tutorials are optional. The guide shows your current shortcuts and gestures.
- On desktop, the main window has a more compact layout with integrated window controls and a simpler search home, giving dictionary content more room.
- On desktop, a small loading panel appears as a lookup begins, then expands smoothly as the word and dictionaries arrive. This also fixes loading flashes, panel placement, and clipped content on macOS.
- On desktop, text recognition is enabled by default for new setups. Windows offers a simpler choice of recognition engines and languages; an existing choice to turn recognition off is preserved.
修復
- Windows Lookup finds selected text more reliably in apps such as Word, including when Word's floating formatting toolbar takes focus.
- Browsing matching dictionary entries now includes alternative capitalization, while keeping exact spellings first.
AALookup's own learner's dictionary, and online dictionaries in the lookup panel
新增
- AALookup Learner's English is in Search & download: a dictionary written for learners, with plain English definitions and Chinese glosses for every sense, examples, collocations, idioms and phrasal verbs, inflections and common mistakes. It answers from aalookup.com for a signed-in account, completes words in the search box, and grows every day as new words are added on the server.
- macOS A small spinner appears beside the pointer from the moment a lookup starts until the panel is on screen.
修復
- An online dictionary with nothing for a word no longer shows an empty row, so a word every dictionary misses shows the no-entry state again; and an online dictionary removed from the collection can be downloaded again from the catalog instead of being reported as already installed.
- macOS A pointer lookup in Chromium-based apps such as Claude Desktop no longer returns a word from elsewhere on the page: an accessibility answer the app cannot place under the pointer now waits for OCR to read the same pixels, and the OCR word wins when it sits under the pointer and reads differently. The pixel check at gesture time, which had silently never run, now does.
變更
- Online dictionaries stand beside local ones in the lookup panel: each installed online dictionary is a column of the switcher in your collection's order, asked at the same time as the local scan. One that has not answered within a moment yields to the first ready dictionary and takes its place when it arrives.
Online dictionaries beside your own, and one import for every word list
新增
- Online dictionaries join the collection as ordinary rows: install Wiktionary and Wikipedia from Search & download, order them among your local dictionaries, and read their entries in the Library drawn in AALookup's own style. A website of your own can be added by address or imported from GoldenDict.
- The lookup panel shows the first online dictionary that can be embedded and moves down the list when it cannot answer.
- The search box completes from Wiktionary and Wikipedia as you type, below the local suggestions.
- One import flow, from Settings or the Words page, reads TypeWords backups, AALookup bundles and word lists exported from Eudic and Youdao.
- English can be chosen as the explanation language.
最佳化
- macOS Pointer lookup checks that the word's glyphs really sit under the pointer, and asks the application under the pointer when the system-wide hit test fails.
- macOS With OCR off but Screen Recording granted, a lookup falls back to reading pixels for text that accessibility cannot see — code editors, canvases, games.
- Windows The text recognized on the frozen screen can be corrected before copying, and Enter inserts a line break instead of copying the image.
- The panel footer names what started the lookup — a three-finger tap or the shortcut that fired — and the context text can be selected and keeps its line breaks.
- The website gets a recorded lookup demo on the homepage, landing pages for each platform and use, comparison pages, a dark appearance that follows the system, and release notes.
修復
- Windows Sentence capture reads the whole sentence from the paragraph, so a sentence that wraps in the browser is no longer cut at the line break.
- Three startup crashes are fixed: the first launch after an update on Windows, a Windows OCR line-ordering panic, and every launch after the first on Android. The server's hourly backup no longer stalls requests while it runs.
- On Android, Update now survives the trip to the Install unknown apps setting and does not download the package again on retry.
變更
- Settings → Dictionaries shows only what you need to pick a dictionary — name, size, whether it is online — and folds licence and version details away; the advanced manager and the phone's dictionary screen carry the rest, online dictionaries included.
Restore Windows OCR
最佳化
- Windows screen text capture now works without an OCR engine already installed, with the app handling the required language resources and local model setup.
Hotfix
More reliable dictionary navigation and clearer sync information.
最佳化
- When local dictionary files change or become unavailable, you can reload them from the lookup page and recover affected entries.
- Sync information now follows your membership: Plus members see their current benefits without repeated upgrade prompts, and free accounts see the limits that apply to them.
- Website pages and account information appear earlier when opened, and signing in or switching website accounts updates the page more consistently.
修復
- ODE dictionary variant and phrase links now open the correct section, and returning to an entry restores its reading position more reliably.
AALookup 1.0 brings Plus, clearer lookup allowances and new desktop screen tools.
新增
- Introducing AALookup Plus: choose monthly or yearly billing on the website for 1,000 AI word lookups each month, one-month rollover, full vocabulary sync and priority support, with subscription management in your account.
- macOS Experimental screen text lookup freezes the screen for word lookup and on-device image text recognition, with a reading spotlight, selectable text, and screenshot tools for annotation, mosaic, copying, PNG export and pinning.
- Windows Experimental screen text lookup lets you freeze the screen with Ctrl+Alt+A, select accessible application text and use the screenshot tools; OCR remains disabled, so text available only in images or games cannot be recognized.
- Send feedback from the main window by choosing what worked or what needs improving, with an optional written message; unsent text stays in the window when you dismiss the form or sending fails.
最佳化
- Your account now shows remaining AI lookups and their sources; buying Plus keeps an active trial separate and uses its remaining lookups first, while the website explains each allowance and its expiry.
- Vocabulary and review progress sync more reliably across devices, including deletion and idle refresh; free sync covers up to 100 unmastered cards and clearly explains pauses, while Plus also syncs mastered cards and continues beyond that limit.
- Official desktop builds prepare signed updates in the background and use them at the next launch, with more reliable handoff through existing shortcuts and no installer waiting for you when you quit.
修復
- macOS Fixed an intermittent startup crash on macOS.
- Library and Settings now reopen and regain focus more reliably on macOS; opening the app from Finder restores the Library after you close it, and lookup panel shadows follow rounded corners correctly.
- ODE dictionary phrase links now scroll to the correct section and back, with folded content opening before the reader moves.
變更
- Desktop AI explanations now use AALookup directly, replacing custom API-key settings; guest use remains available, local dictionaries stay readable offline or when lookups run out, and interrupted answers can be recovered without charging twice for the same lookup.
- Mobile now opens with a dedicated sign-in and dictionary setup flow; an expired session returns you to sign-in while preserving local data, and temporary network loss still permits local reading while your session is valid.
Fixes the update that stopped older installs at "Could Not Update AALookup Data".
修復
- Updating from 0.6.0 through 0.7.1 no longer fails while AALookup upgrades its local data, so the app opens normally after the update instead of stopping at an error and asking you to try again. If you are already stuck on that screen, install this version by hand: it picks up where the update stopped and changes nothing else.
- Topic links inside dictionary entries now open the right page, and pronunciation audio no longer plays twice when the dictionary's own player also handles the click.
Clearer local dictionary setup and smoother typing on iPhone and iPad.
最佳化
- Dictionary setup now explains how to import local dictionary files you have permission to use.
修復
- On iPhone and iPad, the keyboard stays open while saving an answer and moving to the next study step. Tapping the exercise also brings the keyboard back when needed.
Crash diagnostics and account deletion completion notices.
新增
- AALookup now reports crashes and unexpected errors to help us find and fix failures.
- App Store and Google Play versions let you turn off error reporting in Settings > About; the change takes effect immediately.
最佳化
- Once your account and its associated sign-in record have been deleted, AALookup sends a completion notice by email, or by SMS if no email address is available.
- The privacy pages explain what crash reports contain, how long they are kept and where error reporting can be turned off.
Account deletion and session controls, reliable dictionary navigation, and an iOS keyboard fix.
新增
- Request account deletion from Account & Sync or the website by confirming your email; access stops immediately, and withdrawing the request within seven days requires signing in and explicitly confirming that you want to keep the account.
- The account page lists active app and browser sessions and lets you end one session or all other sessions.
- English and Chinese privacy pages explain account and learning sync, local dictionaries, online explanations and service logs, with links from in-app sign-in.
最佳化
- When a session expires or is ended remotely, AALookup pauses sync, keeps your words, notes and progress available offline, and prompts you to sign in again to sync pending changes.
修復
- Dictionary entries now resize correctly when their content changes, and section links scroll to the right place below sticky headings even while search results refresh.
- Tapping a typing exercise on iPhone or iPad now keeps the keyboard open so you can enter your answer.
- Sign-in now opens on the service's correct host, avoiding failed callbacks when login starts through another address.
- The admin console confirms completed account deletion, clearly identifies pending sign-in record removal, and retries an interrupted account session exchange.
More room for mobile review, a fix for iPhone and iPad sign-in, and a clearer desktop dictionary list.
新增
- English and Chinese support pages bring troubleshooting guidance, issue reporting, and an email contact together.
- The download page now offers the Android APK and correctly recommends it when an Android browser reports its platform.
最佳化
- Review leaves more room for the question on small screens: after the first word the header becomes a compact progress header, recall choices and rating buttons use less space, and each new question starts at the top.
- Book-source information and its pronunciation button sit together in a compact row, leaving more of the original material visible during review.
- Desktop dictionary settings now shows compact rows with clearer enabled states and lookup priorities; rename a dictionary in place and reorder dictionaries with drag handles or keyboard controls.
修復
- Fixed a crash that could close AALookup when starting sign-in on a physical iPhone or iPad.
- Windows The Windows installer now updates WebView2 when it is too old to load the styling and scripts inside dictionary entries.
變更
- New installations open Sogou AI for “Ask on the web” and include the surrounding sentence; Metaso, Quark, and Baidu Wenxin are also available as presets, while existing custom URLs and context-sharing choices are preserved.
- The Android build now requires Android 11, matching the system features needed to read dictionary files.
“Ask on the web” now opens somewhere reachable from mainland China, and a dictionary entry no longer loses its styling on Windows machines whose WebView2 stopped updating.
新增
- aalookup.com offers the Android build. It was published with every release and listed nowhere, so the only way to a first copy was GitHub — which left the updater inside it with no way for anyone to arrive.
修復
- Windows On a Windows machine whose WebView2 had stopped updating, a dictionary entry arrived with none of the publisher's own styling or scripts while the rest of the app looked fine. Installing this version updates WebView2 when it is too old to load them.
- An Android phone visiting the download page was recommended the macOS installer. The page guessed at iPad — which reports itself as a Mac with a touch screen — before reading the browser's own statement of which system it was.
變更
- “Ask on the web” opened Google's AI mode, which is not reachable from mainland China — and the shipped explanation language is Simplified Chinese, so for the people it was aimed at it was a button that timed out. It now opens Sogou's AI mode, with Metaso, Quark and Baidu Wenxin alongside it in the presets. A web address you chose yourself is left exactly as you left it, Google included.
- A new installation now sends the sentence around the word to that site, not just the word on its own, because the sentence is the whole reason to ask a model rather than a dictionary. If you have used AALookup before, this setting is left exactly where you had it — an existing choice of “no” is indistinguishable from an untouched one, and guessing would send text somebody had withheld.
- The Android build now requires Android 11. It could be installed on Android 7 before, several versions below where its own file handling starts working, so it could open and then fail to read a dictionary.
Adding a dictionary used to look like it worked and leave nothing behind. That, the panel's source list, and importing on Android are all fixed — and What's new now appears when an update actually arrives, with the notes for it before you install.
新增
- What's new can describe the release being offered to you, not only the ones already installed, so you can read what an update contains before deciding to take it.
修復
- A dictionary added with “Add a dictionary…” showed up in Settings and was gone again on the next start. It never reached disk: saving replaced the whole dictionary list before the new row could be written into it. Every way of adding one now takes the same path a folder import takes, so it is durable before the button finishes.
- Choosing a dictionary in the lookup panel's source list did nothing at all. The request was refused before it ran, so a word with entries in several dictionaries could not be read from the one you picked.
- Version 0.7.0 sent everyone back to the first step of Getting Started, including people who had finished it a version ago — their practice erased, and on a phone no way out of it without signing in. Only a guide that was left unfinished starts again; a finished one stays finished.
- What's new could not scroll, so everything below the first screen was out of reach — which is most of it, eleven releases in.
- On Android, importing dictionary files from the setup guide had never worked: the file picker hands back locations no dictionary reader can open, and it failed far enough from the picker to read as a broken dictionary rather than a way in that never worked. The guide now uses the same folder import the Dictionaries screen already had, and asks whether to read a folder where it lies or copy it, before opening the picker.
變更
- What's new sits in the sidebar while an update is on its way, and until you have read about the release that just landed, marked while that is true. The rest of the time it stays out of the way. A link to it still works whichever way the sidebar looks.
Signing in is one motion now: a browser opens, you sign in, and AALookup finishes on its own. The device code stays as the fallback for when the browser never comes back.
新增
- An agent connected through the MCP server can save a whole list of words to your vocabulary in one call. Each word succeeds or fails on its own, and a word you already have is left exactly as it was.
- Experimental Android and iOS builds ship alongside this release on GitHub. They read your own MDict dictionaries, with a dictionary manager, settings and a reading layout built for a small screen. Neither is on Google Play or the App Store, parts of the desktop app are still missing, and the iOS build reaches testers only through TestFlight.
- The official Android APK published on GitHub finds new versions and installs them. Other Android builds report that a new version exists but cannot install it themselves.
修復
- The WordNet example dictionary no longer disappears from the downloads page. Publishing a release was deleting files the release itself had not put there.
- Windows A link with more than one part to its address — one in a model's answer, for instance — now opens in full, instead of reaching the browser cut off partway through.
- The app itself no longer zooms on a touch screen — neither a double tap nor a pinch scales the interface out from under you, and controls answer immediately instead of waiting to see whether a second tap is coming. Dictionary text keeps its own size setting.
變更
- Signing in no longer asks you to read a code back to the device that just showed it to you. Your browser opens the sign-in page, and the app takes it from there.
- The device code stays out of sight while the browser sign-in is going fine, and appears only if the browser never comes back, or if you ask for it.
- You can sign in from the Account & Sync card in Getting Started, instead of being sent to Settings to do it.
- Getting Started now gives local dictionaries and your account a step each; before, one crowded step held both, and AI as well. AI explanations have left the guide and keep their section in Settings, with the same defaults.
- Because those steps changed, the guide opens once more after this update and starts from the beginning, including its short practice steps. Nothing you have set up is lost, and it can still be skipped.
An AI agent on this computer can now be let into your own dictionaries: it looks words up through AALookup, shows you the entry, and helps you keep a large collection in order.
新增
- AALookup can expose an MCP server that is off until you turn it on and listens only on this computer, and Settings ▸ Integrations sets up Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex / ChatGPT or WorkBuddy to use it.
- A connected agent can look a word up in your installed dictionaries using the app's own spelling ladder, suggest headwords, and open a lookup in the panel or the Library for you to read.
- A connected agent can also keep a large collection in order: creating, renaming and rearranging groups, moving dictionaries between them, changing the order they are searched in, and turning one on or off.
- Results from a large collection can be narrowed to one dictionary group, through a searchable list that counts the hits in each group and everything beneath it.
修復
- Search suggestions keep looking through your dictionaries until they have a list, instead of consulting one dictionary and leaving the rest behind a button.
- The result dictionary bar holds still while a search runs: progress is a thin line along its edge, in place of a count that widened and pushed the tabs around.
- Dictionaries that could not be opened are listed one per line in a panel that scrolls, so a long list no longer covers the settings above it.
變更
- How many dictionaries were searched, and how many could not be read, now appear when you point at or tap the count beside the result tabs, rather than in a block under the entries that could sit halfway up an empty page.
The lookup panel and the Home screen now hold still while your dictionaries are searched and indexed, instead of shifting as progress arrives.
修復
- The lookup panel shows dictionary-search progress as a compact status icon in the header, so its content no longer jumps while dictionaries are being searched.
- The Home screen keeps its dictionary status row to one fixed line, so indexing updates no longer move the search field or the cards below it.
A scalable dictionary workspace and a smoother Getting Started flow.
新增
- Advanced Dictionary Manager gives desktop users a paged, virtualized collection view with groups, tags, bulk actions, ordering, import roots, storage details, and durable maintenance jobs.
- The dictionary registry now supports durable folder imports, resumable scans, index and source health state, package staging, rollback, and cross-platform migration of existing dictionaries.
最佳化
- Dictionary routing now keeps source identity, lookup priority, selected-dictionary tabs, and continuation pages consistent as results move between the Library and dictionary frames.
- Large dictionary collections use persistent search indexes, bounded lazy readers, paged results, background maintenance, and truthful partial coverage instead of reopening every source for each lookup.
- When one MDict headword addresses several physical entries, the Library now keeps every entry addressable, renders them together, and preserves the selected entry while scrolling and opening frames.
- Getting Started now offers “Import a folder…” for batch setup and lets users continue after dictionaries are registered while indexing proceeds in the background.
修復
- Quick Search no longer stays stuck on dictionary checks while a newly imported collection is being indexed, and onboarding clearly reports the indexing state.
Getting Started now demonstrates practice lookups when you get stuck.
最佳化
- During first-lookup and image OCR practice, pressing Continue while blocked or waiting ten seconds now shows an animated pointer that demonstrates where to point and which trigger to use, then steps aside before capture.
修復
- Search suggestions on the Lookup home now open fully instead of being clipped by the hero card.
The redesigned Lookup home brings search, today's learning, and recent words into one clearer workspace.
最佳化
- The Lookup home is now organized around a prominent local-dictionary search, with clearer shortcuts for Review, Study, and saved Words alongside recent lookups and a practical learning tip.
修復
- At the default desktop window size, the home layout now adapts to the space left by either sidebar width, keeps English and Chinese cards readable, and scrolls only when the available height truly requires it.
The Library home now fits comfortably into a laptop window, with a collapsible sidebar that remembers your choice.
最佳化
- The Library home now fits into a typical laptop window without page scrolling: Recent lookups scroll inside their card, and the sidebar can collapse to a compact icon rail that remembers your choice.
修復
- Saving a word no longer fails or silently skips it when capture returns an unusually long line of text; AALookup keeps a clean excerpt around the word while leaving normal captures unchanged.
- Longman dictionary entries used as review questions no longer leak the answer through syllable-split headwords like "vo·cab·u·lary" — the split form is masked along with the word itself.
Signing in and creating an account are now one simple entry with e-mail verification codes, and the Android app can update itself.
新增
- The Android app now updates itself: new releases are picked up and installed in place, with no manual APK download.
- Android can use dictionaries directly where they live: the direct-download APK offers an in-place import that skips copying large files into the app, while Play and local builds keep the standard file-picker import.
- Library search results gain a dictionary rail: jump straight to any dictionary's entry instead of scrolling past every one before it.
最佳化
- If your e-mail address is still unverified, sign-in now walks you through verification — the code is sent automatically and the page offers a fresh sign-in once it's done — instead of failing with a generic error and making you start over.
- Studying on a phone feels right now: launch, keyboard handling, onboarding, touch review, spoken answers, and question sampling have all been tuned for mobile.
修復
- Jumping to a dictionary now lands on it and stays put; entries used to finish measuring themselves mid-scroll, so a jump could stop short or drift away from its target.
- Dictionary entries keep their images, styles, and audio even when a publisher's own scripts rewrite URLs; dictionary names with spaces or non-Latin characters no longer break asset loading.
- Right-click "Inspect Element" no longer shows up in the lookup panel, Library, or Settings — the web inspector now belongs to the tuning window alone.
- The search field's clear button sits right beside the search button at every window density and language, instead of floating a couple dozen pixels away from it.
變更
- Sign-in and registration are now one entry. "Sign in or create account" opens the hosted account page in your browser, where a new account is created with an e-mail verification code — the app no longer carries its own password form.
AALookup now runs on Android and iPhone as an experimental preview, and every dictionary can carry its own styling and zoom.
新增
- AALookup now runs on Android and iPhone. Look a word up from the system's text-selection menu or share sheet and it opens in the app, with your saved words and review progress carried over by your account. These builds are experimental and incomplete, and are published on GitHub only.
- Import a whole folder of dictionaries at once: AALookup walks a collection folder, reads every MDict file inside it, and adds them in one step with progress while it works.
- Each dictionary can now be tuned on its own: add your own stylesheet or script on top of the publisher's, set a content zoom between 50% and 300%, and see the result in a live preview before you save.
- Drag the lookup panel out of the way when it covers what you are reading. It stays where you put it for that lookup, and the next word is placed against its own position again.
- The typing trainer's listening and dictation stages can be answered by picking from choices instead of typing them out, and by speaking the word on phones. However you answer, it counts the same towards your review schedule.
- Review adds a word-choice question: given a meaning, pick the word that carries it.
最佳化
- More of Settings, the dictionary surfaces, and the website read in your own language.
修復
- Windows Looking up a word in a Chromium-based application that has only just started now waits for it to answer instead of reporting nothing under the pointer.
- Learn no longer flashes back to a guest space when you return to the browser tab: a session that is already proven stays signed in while it is being rechecked.
- Entries that pronounce a word through a sound link now play it, and network rules understand WebSocket addresses.
變更
- A dictionary is now recorded as its whole file set — the MDict file with its resource volumes, stylesheets, scripts and cover — anchored to AALookup's own data folder. Dictionaries the app downloaded keep working after the data folder moves, instead of quietly going missing.
You can now trigger a lookup with a mouse button, and OCR language is configurable.
新增
- Windows On Windows, missing OCR language packs can now be detected and installed, including from Windows Update when no offline bundle is available.
- You can now pin which language OCR recognizes; if that language pack is later removed, OCR falls back to automatic selection.
- You can now trigger a lookup with a mouse button (single or double click, with optional modifiers).
最佳化
- Update checks now respect the system proxy, stop waiting after 20 seconds, and report the underlying cause when they fail.
修復
- Opening AALookup again while it is already running now focuses the existing window instead of failing.
- In Review, the card you are answering no longer gets replaced when the queue refreshes, so a half-typed answer is not wiped out.
Dictionary entries follow your theme, and every release now says what changed.
新增
- Dictionary entries now render in dark mode along with the rest of the app, and Settings can choose how a publisher's own styling is treated.
- Every release now comes with notes: shown before you install an update, and kept under What's new for the versions you already have.
- Getting Started now shows how far along an example dictionary is while it downloads and installs.
最佳化
- Words looked up by typing — the Library's search field, Quick Search, or a cross-reference inside an entry — are now recorded in History alongside the ones captured from the screen.
- Review rating buttons now show which one has keyboard focus, so rating a card without the mouse is possible to follow.
- The download page is pre-rendered, so it appears without waiting for scripts to load.
